    Election Day is finally here — have you cast your ballot yet?

    Your ballpoint pen may be getting a workout. Because today is Election Day. You have until 8pm tonight to get to a ballot box. And procrastinators, you are not alone – the Secretary of State’s office says statewide, just about 39% of ballots had been returned as of Monday. That’s lagging behind early voting numbers for the same day in the last midterm election in 2018.

    Republicans use fear of crime as a wedge issue in Washington’s 8th

    Audrey Muliawan said they wanted to escape a rising crime rate in Seattle – a problem she believes has only worsened since then. “The Seattle area definitely has a lack of police. If I’m going there now, I feel like I have to be a little bit more aware,” she said. It’s just the sort of personal story that Republicans believe could help them flip Washington’s 8th District and take back control of the U.S. House this year.

    The debate took place at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Murray is campaigning to keep her job representing Washington state in the U.S. Senate, which she has held for nearly 30 years. Smiley has been running on that fact, calling Murray a career politician. Sunday night's debate showed just how far apart the two candidates are on the issues.
