2 women found dead in University District apartment
Two women were found dead in an apartment across the street from the University of Washington campus, according to the Seattle Police blotter.
Update 5 p.m.: Police have determined that there are no outside suspects in this case.
Sirens blared through the University District around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, as officers responded to 4337 15th Avenue Northeast, an eight-story brick building across the street from the new Burke Museum on the University of Washington campus.
The women were found when building managers for the Malloy Apartments conducted a welfare check at a unit in the building. One of the women was severely injured, according to the blotter.
When officers entered the apartment, however, they found both the women were dead.
Later in the morning, investigators from the King County Medical Examiner’s Office wheeled in a crimson gurney and came out with a body bag. The investigators wheeled the gurney back in and returned with a second body bag.
From the grand, Gothic foyer, a ground-floor apartment could be seen roped off with crime scene tape. Police investigators walked back and forth to the apartment in black booties.
Homicide investigators are on the scene.
The King County Medical Examiner is working to identify the women and how they died.
The Malloy Apartments, which rents out studios and 1-bedrooms, between 180 and 664 square feet, was roped off on Tuesday morning.
