Friends and family are still grappling with the sudden, violent death of 26 year old Aysenur Eygi last Friday.

The University of Washington psychology student and human rights activist had just graduated in June.

Eygi was shot and killed by Israeli forces during a protest in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The IDF says her killing was "unintentional."

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken condemned her death as “unprovoked, unjustified, and unacceptable."

Multiple Washington lawmakers have joined Eygi's family in calling on U.S. officials to lead an independent investigation.

Fellow UW alum and activist Juliette Majid told KUOW's Kim Malcolm about her friend.
