Black flight is not the end of Seattle's Central District's diversity story. "On The Brink" highlights those who are working hard to keep it that way.

Nowhere is gentrification more visible in Seattle than in the city's historically black neighborhood, the Central District.

For decades, it thrived as a cultural hub. But in the early 80s, the area became more desirable —and more expensive. Many African Americans were eventually pushed out.

But local podcaster and filmmaker Jeff Shulman isn't sure that's the end of the story. His new documentary is called "On The Brink" and features longtime Central District resident Donald King. KUOW's Kim Malcolm interviews them both about the neighborhood.
