Japan Airlines plane clips another plane at Sea-Tac Airport

A taxiing Japan Airlines plane struck a parked Delta Airlines flight at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport Wednesday morning.
Kassie McKnight-Xi, a spokesperson for the Port of Seattle, said no injuries have been reported, and impact to airport operations should be "minimal."
Still, the scene shook passengers, some of whom took to social media.
"So, we were sitting on the tarmac at SeaTac and another plane ran into us, just casually sliced into our tail. Very scary," one person wrote on X, sharing a video that appeared to show a wing of the Japan Airlines flight sticking out of the Delta plane's tail.

Passengers were removed from both planes. McKnight-Xi said passengers should check with their airlines for flight status if they're flying today.
According to FlightAware, 163 flights were delayed at Sea-Tac and another 27 were canceled as of Wednesday afternoon, though these changes may not have been related to the collision.
The incident occurred around 10:15 in the morning. The Seattle area has been experiencing a wintry mix of rain and snow over the last few days. At 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Seattle noted snow showers were moving northward across Western Washington. At the time of the collision, according to NWS data, the temperature at Sea-Tac was just below freezing, there was no wind, and visibility was at 10 miles.
Asked whether conditions at the airport contributed to the incident, McKnight-Xi told KUOW, "The investigation will determine details later. I’ll add that we had minimal accumulation of snow in the early hours of this morning."
According to NWS, the airport got 0.8" of fresh snowfall at 4 a.m. with an inch of snow already on the ground.
On Monday, 105 flights were canceled at Sea-Tac after rain, ice, and snow hit Western Washington, combined with below-normal temperatures. Another 386 flights were delayed that day.
