Mapped: Shootings around Seattle's Garfield High School this year
In the last year, there have been at least six shootings in and around Garfield High School in Seattle's Central District. After the fatal shooting at Garfield High School last week, parents and students noted other shootings that have occurred around the high school this year -- and called for solutions to the broader, ongoing pattern of gun violence in Seattle's Central District.
Where did these numbers come from?
The incidents listed are taken from multiple sources, including original reporting by KUOW, the Seattle Times, and Capitol Hill Blog—as well as the Seattle Police Department and public letters from Seattle Public Schools. Only incidents publicly available from 2023 - 2024 and within five blocks of a Seattle public school are represented. This graphic may not represent all incidents.
