Valentine’s Day traditionally is reserved for hearts, flowers and romance. But what could be more romantic than an art-themed date? KUOW’s Arts and Culture reporter Marcie Sillman has some recommendations for you.
DANCE
- Friday, February 14: Seattle Theatre Group presents Dani Tirrell’s “Black Bois” at the Moore Theatre, one night only. In collaboration with On the Boards and the Central District Forum for Arts and Ideas.
- Saturday February 15: Sunday February 16-Chop Shop: Bodies of Work, a contemporary dance festival curated by Eva Stone, at Meydenbauer Center, Bellevue.
THEATER
- Book-it Repertory Theatre presents a stage adaptation of Henry James’ novel “The Turn of the Screw” at the Center Theatre, Armory at Seattle Center.
- ACT Lab Solo Fest continues through February 16 at ACT Theatre.
- Pioneer Square dinner theater Café Nordo presents “The Angel in the House,” written and directed by Sara Porkalob.
VISUAL ART
- Continuing exhibitions at the Frye Art Museum including “Unsettling Femininity”.
- Seattle’s Greg Kucera Gallery presents a special month-long exhibition of work by the late Jacob Lawrence, including paintings, drawings and prints.
- Visit the ARTS at King Street Gallery, operated by Seattle’s Office of Arts and Culture. Current exhibition “The American War,” focused on the US presence in Southeast Asia, also known as the Vietnam War.
