One person dead, two injured in Central District shooting, police say
One person is dead and two wounded after a shooting Friday afternoon on the 2100 block of East Union Street in the Central District, according to Seattle police.
Seattle police said they started receiving reports of gunshots around 3 p.m. Officers sent to Swedish Health's Cherry Hill facility found one person dead and another two people with "serious, but non-life-threatening" gunshot wounds, according to Det. Patrick Michaud.
Harborview Medical Center received the two surviving shooting victims for further treatment. Both are in "satisfactory condition," according to a hospital spokesperson, and being treated in the emergency department.
Michaud said it's still unclear whether there was one shooter or more. Homicide detectives are currently trying to track down suspect descriptions, he said.
Transportation officials are urging people to avoid the area. The 2100 block of East Union Street will remain closed until authorities collect evidence, Michaud said.
