News Roundtable | Smoke And Business | 'Animal House' At 40

Wildfire smoke in southern Oregon has forced the Oregon Shakespeare Festival to relocate — and even cancel — a number of performances. The festival, whose outdoor season runs until mid-October, has already canceled or relocated more shows than it did in all of 2017. Alison Carey, a member of the festival’s executive team and Hazel Wheeler, the safety, health and wellness manager, join us to discuss the challenges of putting on a festival during an unrelenting wildfire season.  

Last month, “National Lampoon’s Animal House” turned 40 years old. To celebrate, a world record–attempting toga party is happening tomorrow in Cottage Grove. We hear from Katherine Wilson, who worked on the film and is an organizer of the event, about the party. Then, we talk with Tom Bivins, a University of Oregon media studies professor, about the impact of the film and how it has aged.
