Thousands gathered in Seattle on Saturday to protest the death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed by a white police officer who held his knee on Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, as he repeatedly said, ‘I can’t breathe,’ in Minneapolis on Memorial Day.

The day included peaceful protest and marches, with chants including one led by musician Da’miracle Muse: ‘we do this for our children - we do this for our children’s, children’.

The day also saw violence in the downtown area, including broken windows, tear gas, flash bombs, and destruction of property at multiple businesses and restaurants.

As protests erupt across the country, many are expressing outrage against a pattern of violence, that exists for black Americans -- often resulting in death, at the hands of law enforcement.
