Six months after the Parkland shooting, local student activists reflect
Bill Radke talks to two local student activists about how they were inspired to organize. We talk to Justin Velasco, who helped found the Seattle chapter of Students Demand Action, and Sophie Poole, who helped organize a student walkout at Mercer Island High School.
These students were featured in a 2-part podcast by KUOW's youth media program, RadioActive. The first episode is, 'Six months after Parkland: 'Even to this day, it doesn't feel real.' The second episode is 'Back to school in the age of school shootings.'

After starting with KUOW as a University of Washington student in 1985, Bill was KUOW's morning host in the '90s and the creator of past show, Rewind, a news-satire show heard on KUOW and nationwide on NPR. Bill moved away to Southern California to host American Public Media's Weekend America and Marketplace Morning Report and returned to KUOW in 2012.
