Susan Hutchison Named New Chairwoman Of Wash. State GOP
Former Washington State Republican Party Chairman Kirby Wilbur surprised many of his colleagues when he resigned close to a month ago. Wilbur went to work for Young America’s Foundation, a conservative organization with a mission to train young people for jobs in the media.
Over the weekend the party elected a new leader, former KIRO TV anchor Susan Hutchison. As she takes the reins, she said she's ready to dig in and change things.
We've got a lot of work to do, and my goal is to elect good Republicans to work with good Democrats to solve the problems of the state. And I think one of the reasons we don't have any money is because people have lost faith in the Republican Party to elect anyone.
Besides that, she said she wants to improve the party’s get-out-the vote effort and communication.
Internally we need to get ourselves organized, we've got to bring ourselves up to date with technology, social media, improve our ability to communicate, and fight the distortions of messaging that the democrats have been so successful with in distorting the Republican message.
Hutchison also ran for King County Executive in 2009 but lost to Dow Constantine.
