Ask a judge, learn about the 'work that has to be done'

Attitudes towards judges and the branch of the government they represent vary. Perhaps most of our interactions with justice entail an accountability for faulty actions. That might put us on the defensive.

It’s pretty easy to lose sight of the humanity underneath the authority of the robe. We might ask, who is this person passing judgement on me?

KUOW's “Ask A Judge” event brought together a group of community members eager to sit down with justices and put them on the spot. What goes on in the mind of a judge? How do they navigate tough decisions? Do they have regrets? We took some of the participants aside to hear about their experience.

This event took place at The King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle on January 17.
