The Seattle-King County area has the third largest concentration of homeless people in the U.S., after New York and Los Angeles. The most recent count totaled nearly 12,000.

Many if not all of us pass these people on a daily basis. Many of us do not make contact. The stories of people who experience homelessness often go unnoticed and unheard.

The KUOW “Ask A…” series brought together a group of people who had experienced homelessness to meet with people who had questions for them. They shared stories, broke down barriers and gained perspective.

We took some of the participants aside to hear about the experience and ask more questions. Listen to what they had to say by clicking the play button above.

You'll hear the voices of: Tyler Marcil, Bob Findlay, Robin Covington, John Kapshaw, Yvette Vandermolen, Nancy S, Wanda Moats and Kurt Gruber.

This event took place at Impact HUB Seattle in Pioneer Square on August 18.
