Meteorologists: The storm is coming! Finish your chores and get inside

The great storm of 2016 may not be so impressive after all.

Meteorologists in Seattle refuse to be dismayed, however, and recommend that you:

Do your chores early.

Don’t BBQ indoors.

Expect trees to fall, because they will.

“Trees will fall,” tweeted the Seattle Weather Blog. “Power will go out in places. Whether it’s 50 mph or 70 mph – just be safe.”

The late morning report from the National Weather Service says a high wind warning remains in the Seattle vicinity from 3 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday.

Gusts could reach near 60 miles per hour between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. and will ease later in the evening. (A high wind warning kicks in when gusts reach 58 miles an hour.)

The weather service advises people secure loose outdoor objects before the winds arrive. Keep portable generators and barbecues outdoors. (Barbecue indoors could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.)

This storm has been compared to the 2006 Hannukkah Eve storm, which had 11 confirmed fatalities.

So far, the last two days have seen 3.11 inches of rain – over an inch more than July through September totals combined, according to the National Weather Service.
