Seattle Art Museum names new director
Seattle Art Museum welcomes a new leader this September.
Amada Cruz, the current director of Arizona’s Phoenix Art Museum, will take the reins from Kimerly Rorschach, who retires from her position as SAM’s Executive Director.
Cruz, a native of Cuba, was educated in the United States. She’s worked in arts administration and grant-making for three decades, including stints at San Antonio, Texas-based Artpace, Bard College and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
In her new position with SAM, Cruz will oversee the flagship downtown museum, the Olympic Sculpture Park on Elliott Bay, and Volunteer Park’s Asian Art Museum, scheduled to reopen this fall after a significant renovation.
