Seattle says 5,700 people got out of homelessness last year
Seattle officials say more than 5,700 people went from homelessness to permanent housing in Seattle last year with help from city-funded programs.
That number represents more than 3,500 households moving from homelessness to housing, just under half the number Mayor Jenny Durkan touted in her state of the city address in February.
The announcement comes after confusion earlier this year over the way the city was tracking progress.
