A suspect has turned himself into police, after a Seattle woman said she was raped when trying to catch a ride-share car home.

The woman was in Ballard in December, when a friend ordered her an Uber car. She says a man drove up in a black vehicle and claimed to be her driver. She says he drove to White Center, and pulled over and raped her, before dropping her off at home.

A 34-year-old man turned himself in Tuesday night, the same day after the sheriff's office released video of the suspect.

Sergeant Ryan Abbott, a King County sheriff's office spokesperson, said a family member called the suspect to tell him he was under investigation.

"We still have some forensic evidence to take care of, we've also got DNA evidence we're waiting on... to make sure that they close up all loose ends," Abbott said. "But they did arrest him, he was cooperative, and he was booked into jail."

The man has not been charged, but is under investigation for rape.

Abbott said there have been other cases of people posing as Uber and Lyft drivers. To avoid them, he says check the license plate number and driver's name on the app, and make sure it matches with your driver.
