Bellingham nonprofit offers therapy on wheels

It can be challenging for anyone to stay on top of their mental health.

One organization in Bellingham has come up with a creative solution to make it easier for its clients to access consistent therapy.

Lydia Place has turned a Ford Transit cargo van into a therapy office on wheels.

Therapists drive the van across Whatcom County, park in apartment and motel parking lots, and meet clients for therapy sessions inside the van.

The custom-designed space has a warm color palette, comfy seating, and dimmable lights.

This unique model means Lydia Place can help support the mental health of more people, more often, in a space that is cozy, warm and safe.

The mobile therapy space is expected to be especially helpful during the winter months for clients who are housing insecure.

Lydia Place provides a variety of support services targeted at reducing homelessness and helping children and families with housing programs, parenting support, and mental health care.
